Game-Specific Config for iRacing

iRacing recognises the VNM Wheel Firmware controller out-of-the-box.

Configuration is straight-forward and can be done in the iRacing Simulator in the Options menu on the Replay screen.

  1. Start by calibrating the wheel by clicking the Steering button in the Input Calibration section.
  2. Follow the instructions to configure the wheel.
  3. Next, set the Wheel range and Map range the same as the "Max Angle" in the VNM Configurator.
  4. Select "Enable Force Feedback".
  5. Select "Use linear mode".
  6. Select "Reduce force when parked" (optional, but recommended).
  7. Set Strength to a low value initially for testing. Start with 1, run a test then move up from there.
  8. Set Wheel force to the "peak" output torque of your wheel (for an M15015 wheel this is 20Nm).
  9. Set Damping to 0%.
  10. Set Min force to 0%.

iRacing Config

With an M15015 AASD motor and driver, having Overall force set to 25 in the Configurator and iRacing FFB Strength set to between 1 and 3, the force is strong and should be felt clearly. The various cars in iRacing have significantly different forces because of power steering, open wheel, etc., so play with the settings per car model until you find what works for you.

There is a black box option to adjust FFB Strength in-game so that you can tweak settings on the fly. It's the bottom option in the "Graphics" black box page.
