Game-Specific Config for F1 2020

F1 2020 supports the VNM Wheel Firmware controller device out-of-the-box as a generic game controller. Configuration is straight-forward.

Settings that work with an M15015 AASD motor and driver:

• VNM overall feedback on 25.
• In-game force-feedback settings:
  • Overall level: between 9-11 (if you like it quite heavy)
  • All other settings can be at 20.
  • You can leave understeer assist off.

Configuration Profile is not Saved

The VNM Wheel Firmware controller does not have a factory file in the F1 2020 actionmaps folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\F1 2020\actionmaps). Therefore, the game does not recognise the wheel with any default settings and therefore has to be configured from scratch.

Also, once configured, the game does not save the configuration profile (on exit) and configuration has to be done every time the game is run. This configuration takes about 2-3min so this is not the end of the world.

If someone has the time and energy to attempt to configure a .xml "factory" file for the VNM Wheel Firmware controller so that we don't have to configure on every F1 2020 game start, please share your results on the Discord channel.
