Trace Investigations
Overview
The Investigation Trace page allows you to search for and review all investigations (lab tests, radiology, and other diagnostics) ordered for inpatients. This is useful for tracking which investigations have been performed, reviewing results, and auditing investigation orders linked to BHTs.
Path: Inpatient → Pharmacy → Investigation Trace (also: Inward → Pharmacy → Trace Investigations)

When to Use
Use this page when you need to:
- Find all investigations ordered for a specific admission (BHT)
- Review investigation results for a discharged patient
- Audit investigation ordering patterns over a date range
- Check which investigations are pending for an inpatient
- Trace the full investigation history linked to a specific BHT
How to Search
- From the main menu, go to Inpatient → Pharmacy → Investigation Trace (or Inward → Pharmacy → Trace Investigations)
- Apply one or more filters:
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| From Date | Filter investigations created on or after this date and time |
| To Date | Filter investigations created on or before this date and time |
| BHT No | Search by the admission's BHT number. Start typing the BHT number and select from the autocomplete dropdown. The dropdown shows the patient name, ward/room, and discharge status for each match. |
- Click Search All to run the search
- The results appear in a table showing all investigations matching your filters
Understanding Results
The results table provides the following information for each investigation:
- Bill No — the bill under which the investigation was ordered
- Department ID — the department that ordered the investigation
- Patient Name — the patient's name
- Patient Age — the patient's age at the time of ordering
- BHT No — the admission number
- Investigation — the specific test or procedure ordered
- Data entered reports — any results or reports that have been entered for the investigation
Filter Tips
- Search by BHT only — type or select a BHT number and click Search All to see every investigation ordered for that admission
- Search by date range — leave BHT blank and set a date range to see all investigations ordered across all inpatients during that period
- Combine filters — use both date range and BHT to narrow results to a specific patient and time period
