Pharmacy Requested & Issued Drug Overview

Overview

This report shows, for one ward medicine request on a patient's BHT, what the ward asked for and what the pharmacy actually issued against it โ€” side by side, on the same line, in the order the items were requested. Use it to check a patient's pharmacy details before discharge: missing items, substitutes, and returned or cancelled quantities are visible at a glance.

When to Use

  • Before discharging a patient, to confirm every requested medicine was issued (or knowingly not issued).
  • When a ward queries why an item on its request did not arrive, or arrived as a different brand.
  • When checking how much of an issue was later returned to the pharmacy.

How to Use

  1. Go to Pharmacy โ†’ Inpatient Medication Management โ†’ Pharmacy Requested & Issued Drug Overview.
  2. In Type Patient Name or BHT, type the BHT number, pick the admission, and click Select.
  3. In Requested Bill, choose the request you want to check. The list shows requests that were sent to the department you are logged in to.
  4. The page shows who made the request and, for each issue against it, the issue bill number, the issuing department and the user. Returns and cancellations of those issues are listed underneath; a return that was itself cancelled is not counted.
  5. The table below lines up each requested item with what was issued for it.

Requested items and issued items on the same line

Reading the Table

Column Meaning
No Line number of the requested item, in the order it appears on the request
Requested โ€” Item / Qty The medicine and quantity the ward requested
Issued โ€” Item / Qty The medicine and quantity the pharmacy issued for that requested line
Issue Bill No The issue bill the issued line belongs to
Returned / Cancelled Quantity of that issued line later returned to the pharmacy, or cancelled
Net Issued Issued quantity minus returned and cancelled quantities

How special cases appear:

  • Issued in more than one line โ€” when a requested item was issued in parts (several batches, or several issues), the extra issued lines appear directly under the requested item with the requested columns left blank.
  • (Substitute) โ€” the pharmacy issued a different medicine for that requested line.
  • Not issued โ€” nothing has been issued yet for that requested line.
  • Not linked to a request line โ€” an issued line that is not linked to any current line of the request (for example, an item added on the issue screen). These lines are listed at the end.
