How to Access

Patient relationships can be viewed and managed from the Patient Profile page.

OPD Main Menu โ†’ OPD โ†’ Patient Search โ†’ select patient โ†’ View Profile
Any module with patient search Search for patient โ†’ View Profile

Viewing Relationships

The Patient Relationships card appears in the left column of the Patient Profile page, below the Account & Status section.

It shows a table of all recorded relationships for that patient:

Column Description
Related Person Name of the related patient
Relationship Type of relationship (e.g. Guardian, Next of Kin)
Contact Mobile or phone number of the related person

How to Add a Relationship

  1. Open the Patient Profile for the desired patient
  2. In the Patient Relationships card, click Add Relationship
  3. In the dialog:
    • Related Patient โ€” type at least 2 characters of the person's name, NIC, or phone number and select from the dropdown
    • Relationship Type โ€” select from the list (see types below)
  4. Click Save

The related person must already be registered as a patient in the system. Register them first if needed.

How to Remove a Relationship

  1. Find the relationship row in the Patient Relationships table
  2. Click Remove
  3. Confirm the prompt

The record is soft-deleted and preserved in the database for audit purposes.

Relationship Types

Type Meaning
Next of Kin Closest living relative
Guardian Legal or appointed guardian
Dependent Person who depends on this patient
Spouse Married partner
Parent Biological or adoptive parent
Child Biological or adoptive child
Sibling Brother or sister
Emergency Contact Primary contact in an emergency
Other Any other relationship

Note: Labels are shown from the current patient's perspective. If Patient A is recorded as the Parent of Patient B, then on Patient B's profile the relationship will show as "Child".
