Geographic Areas

Overview

Areas are named geographic zones used primarily for patient address classification and route planning. When patients register, their home area can be recorded and used for geographic analysis, distribution planning, or outreach reports.

When to Use

  • Defining the geographic zones your hospital serves
  • Setting up areas for patient catchment analysis
  • Importing area data from a spreadsheet

Navigating to Area Management

  1. Click AdministrationManage Institutions
  2. Select Areas from the management index

Required privilege: AdminInstitutions

Managing Areas

The screen shows a list on the left and a details panel on the right.

Adding a new area:

  1. Click Add New
  2. Enter the Name of the area
  3. Click Save

Deleting an area:

  1. Select the area from the list
  2. Click Delete (confirmation required)

Bulk Upload

You can upload a list of areas from an Excel file:

  1. Click Choose File and select your Excel file
  2. Click Upload as Excel

The file should contain area names in a format compatible with the upload template.
