Litmus Paper - hjake123/reactive GitHub Wiki
This item changed significantly in versions 1.20.1-8g
and 9+. Information about it before these versions can now be found here.
Litmus Paper is used to measure the status of the Crucible.
Obtaining
Litmus Paper is crafted in by putting Paper into a Crucible with Mind Power. Since you can't measure Powers without it, refer to the Journal for hints as to what might provide that Power, or use JEI.
Usage
9.14+ only
Litmus Paper presents this screen when you click a Crucible with it
The measurement is also saved to the item, and can be called back up by clicking it again elsewhere. Configuration options exist to disable colorization of the text and (separately) to disable the GUI altogether -- this sends the measurement text to the in-game chat instead.
Prior to 9.14
Clicking on a Crucible takes a measurement and saves it to the Litmus Paper. Then, clicking on anything else will send the measurement in chat.
If you right-click without sneaking, you will see the Power measurement, and if you right-click while sneaking, you will see the Reaction Status measurement.
How to read the measurement
Power Measurement
A typical power measurement looks something like this:
-- Measurement --
ACID - 32%
VERDANT - 32%
LIGHT - 4%
This measurement is a list of each Power in the Crucible, and what percentage of the Crucible is currently occupied by that Power. In the example, Acid and Verdant each take up about a third of the total available capacity, while there is only a small amount of Light. The percentage can be thought of as the strength or concentration of that particular Power.
When there are no powers, this list reads 'WATER', to signal that there's just pure water in the Crucible. When there is less then 1% of a Power, it reads as 'TRACE'.
Reaction Status Measurement
A typical reaction status measurement looks something like this:
-- Reactions --
Unknown Reaction Missing Stimulus
Luminous Ring Reacting
This measurement is a list of all possible Reactions with the current combination of Powers in the Crucible. In the example, the "Luminous Ring" reaction is known to the player, so its name is displayed, while another unknown reaction is also possible. The last word in each entry is the reaction's status. There are a few possible statuses:
Status Message | Meaning |
---|---|
Stable | The Power(s) in the Crucible cannot react at all. This status is special, and can appear alone. |
Missing Stimulus | The reaction is possible, but it's missing a stimulus. |
Below Power Threshold | The reaction has all necessary requirements, but there is not enough of the relevant Powers in the Crucible. |
Missing Catalyst Item | The reaction could occur if the right item were present inside the Crucible. |
Reaction Inhibited | The reaction meets all requirements, but is being prevented by an extenuating circumstance such as a surplus of Body. |
Reacting | The reaction is currently happening. |
If the Crucible's Integrity is below 85, the message CRUCIBLE INTEGRITY VIOLATION
is appended above either output.
