The Official COMET Wiki
Welcome to the COMET wiki! Whether you purchase a COMET from me or build your own, I have created this wiki to help users that want to get the most out of their CM3588 w/ NAS Kit. I fell in love with this hardware after purchasing my first board on Amazon and playing around with all the possibilities. In fact, I loved it so much I decided to build a small ecosystem of parts around it, including a version I call the COMET.
There are some really good resources out there, but my hope is to consolidate a lot of it and build tutorials and videos to make sure it is easy to follow and as helpful as possible. As a result, I will often link to these great resources, but also provide my own interpretations and revisions based my own experiences. A huge thank you up front to everyone that has contributed to making this hardware more accessible!
I also want to mention that the COMET was originally designed for the Autonomys network, and a lot of the content will be focused on this use-case. However, my hope is that I can make many of the guides broad enough that they are useful to everyone. And the at its core, the COMET is just a CM3588 NAS Kit with a cool 3D printed case, so if you are interested in getting one and have no idea what Autonomys is, do not let that scare you away.
I recommend checking out a few of these articles to get started:

If you want to support this wiki, my videos, and show some love, please consider buying from my shop!
I try to offer competitive prices, but also hope I can add some additional value to everyone with my content. Plus, most of the time I have parts in stock and can ship very quick. A one word of warning, Amazon and a lot of sellers on Aliexpress do not ship with the correct power supply and you will be required to buy one if you plan to run 4x M.2 NVME drives! I found that one out the hard way. If you order a COMET, a 12V 5A power supply is included, and capable of providing plenty of power.
I also offer an array of other items such as:
- A variety of 3D printed cases, in a variety of colors, including a 9" rack compatible case (coming soon)
- Shoes in a variety of colors (I call them shoes, but they are basically the feet for the 3D printed case). If you want to try some other colors to match your set up they are really easy to swap out.
- Hats in a variety of colors (okay there is a theme here, the shoes go on the bottom, then there is the body of the case, and finally the hat is the lid or cover that sits on top). These are super easy to swap out, and there are a few different varieties such as dual and single fans, and 50mm and 80mm fan sizes (coming soon)
- Fans, lots of varieties, 5v or 12v with upconverter, 50mm or 80mm, and blower style for the rack case (coming soon)
In addition to the above, please reach out about other services such as:
- Autonomys Network NVME Initial Plotting (I will fully plot your NVMEs before shipping the COMET to you)
