Grammar - gryphonshafer/Bible GitHub Wiki

At this stage, final Scripture content is reviewed for grammar. Punctuation is added where appropriate. Block formatting is applied. For example, this is where poetry is put into stanzas and quotes are either quoted with quotation marks or changed to blockquote format.

Section Headers

Look to the NIV, NASB, and ESV to discern good places to insert section headers. Look for agreement between these 3 translations, but use your own judgement to select appropriate places and text.

Red Text

For any words that were directly spoken by Christ, mark them as red letter text.

Deity Capitalization

Any instances of the following should be capitalized: Christ, Jesus, God, Holy Spirit, etc. When a word or phrase is obviously referring to the deity, it should be capitalized. For example: Father, Shepherd, High Priest, Overseer, Spirit, etc.

Formatting and Grammar

Look to the NIV, NASB, and ESV to discern appropriate formatting. Note that most grammatical marks (dashes, quotes, semicolons, etc.) do not appear in the original text but must be added in English for clarity and grammatical correctness. Similarly, the original text rarely contained any formatting. Add formatting and grammar as per modern standards.
