Prometheus can be used to import and convert tags from the Halo 2 MCC editing kit to Xbox format. Currently Prometheus is only compatible with the October 2021 version of the Halo 2 MCC HEK. Tag files created with newer versions of the Halo 2 MCC HEK are most likely compatible with the 2021 version of the HEK, and thus Prometheus, but I have not thoroughly tested this myself. The following instructions will explain how to download the 2021 version of the Halo 2 MCC HEK through Steam.

Downloading

The October 2021 version of the Halo 2 Mod Tools can be downloaded through Steam using the following command in the "Console" tab:

  1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog, enter steam://open/console and click Ok. This should open steam to the console tab which is not normally visible.

  2. Paste the command above into the textbox and press enter. You should get the following output: image

  3. Steam will give no visual indication that the download is in progress but once it completes it will print another line with the directory the mod tools were downloaded to, ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1613450\depot_1613451.

  4. Once the download is complete open the folder the mod tools were downloaded to. Next you'll need to extract the tags.zip and data.zip archives which will give you the stock tags that shipped with the 2021 version of the mod tools. Alternatively you can copy an existing tags folder from a newer version of the MCC mod tools.

  5. Right click the extracted tags folder, uncheck Read-Only, and click apply. When asked if you want to apply this to all child files and folders click yes.

Configuring Prometheus

Once the 2021 version of the mod tools have been downloaded you'll need to configure Prometheus to use them:

  1. Open Prometheus and click on View->Settings.

  2. In the settings dialog click on the Halo Editing Kit tab. Click the browse button for the HEK Directory box and select the folder containing the 2021 version of the Halo 2 MCC Mod Tools, ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1613450\depot_1613451. image

  3. If no issues are found you can click Save and close the settings dialog. If Prometheus didn't find the correct files in the selected folder or the files were the wrong version an error will be displayed.
