1. Firewall

The most common reason for connection problems is the firewall. To enable an interference-free communication you have to make an exception for the PSJoy server in your firewall and restart the server afterwards. Furthermore be sure that port 39696, 39697, 39698, 39705, 39710 are open. If you are using Bluetooth to establish a connection, be sure that your PC is set to visible.

2. Antivirus program

Sometimes your Antivirus program (Antivir, Kaspersky, Norton etc.) is blocking the network capabilities of the PSJoy server. You could try to make an exception for the PSJoy server in your Antivirus program and restart your server afterwards.

If it doesn't work please contact the support team of you specifc Antivirus program.

3. Network

If you are using WiFi, it is important that your smartphone and your PC are registered on the same network. If not, you are not able to establish a connection.

If you have some problems with your WiFi and your Bluetooth you can either create a mobile hotspot or you can share your smartphone's internet connection with USB tethering.

4. Bluetooth

The PSJoy Sever is using an API from 32feet to enable Bluetooth communication. Unfortunately, there are several Bluetooth vendors on the market and not all of them are supported by the API. If the PSJoy server will not be accessible via Bluetooth, it will be shown in the PSJoy server Home Tab.

Please be sure that you have enabled Bluetooth on your PC and check if your PC is set to visible.

5. PSJoy server

If the PSJoy server installer gets stuck on your PC you can try to download the special manual installer package from here. Extract the package and just follow the instructions in the README file.

6. Game support

PSJoy will work in combination with the official PS4 Remote Play program. PSJoy is treated by the official PS4 Remote Play program as an ordinary Dualshock gamepad once it is captured. As long as your PS4 game meets the requirement to be playable via the official PS4 Remote Play program you can control it with PSJoy.

7. Capturing PS4 Remote Play is not working

If the capturing is not working it is most likely because your Antivirus is blocking the capturing process. Be sure that your Antivirus is not blocking any actions of PSJoy. Sometimes it is possible that the capturing process was finished successfully but you are still not able to emulate gamepad inputs. In that case simple release and recapture the PS4 Remote Play process. If that's not working restart the PS4 Remote Play and the PSJoy server.

8. Video stream is laggy or slow

It is highly recommended to use a wired (Ethernet) connection from your PS4 and your PC to your router or use at least a 5 Ghz WiFi for minimum delays on WiFi. Be sure that there is no delay or lag in the official PS4 Remote Play program while streaming. PSJoy can only be as fast as the official PS4 Remote Play. Furthermore, be sure that your PC meets the hardware requirements. You can also reduce the stream quality in the PSJoy server in order to speed up the video encoding speed. (E.g. reduce the resolution, reduce the bitrate, increase keyframe inteval). If it is still not working stop the PSJoy server and the PSJoy app. Disconnect your PC and your smartphone from the current connected network. Reconnect to the network and restart the PSJoy app and the PSJoy server.

9. Stream over internet has bad quality and is very laggy

To stream the content from your PC to your smartphone over the internet you require a very fast connection on both your PC and your Smartphone. In order to reduce errors in the stream you can increase the FEC percentage in the DroidJoy server settings. A recommended FEC value for streaming over the internet is 35. Please note that a higher FEC percentage requires more bandwidth. If it is still not working stop the PSJoy server and the PSJoy app. Disconnect your PC and your smartphone from the current connected network. Reconnect to the network and restart the PSJoy app and the PSJoy server.

10. No video displayed on smartphone

Be sure that port 39705 is open and that PSJoy is not blocked by your Antivirus program. Furthermore, be sure that you have successfully captured the PS4 Remote Play program. If it is still not working please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

11. No audio on smartphone

Be sure that port 39710 is open and that PSJoy is not blocked by your Antivirus program. PSJoy is capturing the whole audio on your PC, some Antivirus programs will block this capturing process.
