Setup PSJoy server

Download and install the PSJoy server from http://grill2010.github.io/psJoy.html#download on your Windows PC. Please note, the installer requires Windows 8.1 or newer. The PSJoy server requires the official PS4 Remote Play program on your PC in order to work. The official PS4 Remote Play program requires Windows 8.1 or above, that's why the PSJoy server does not work on Windows 8 or below. If the installer gets stuck you can download the portable installer. Just follow the instructions in the README file.

1. Introduction

Once you have installed the PSJoy server on your PC the introduction pages will be shown. Just follow these short instructions to setup the PSJoy server. If you are already familiar with the PSJoy server you can sip the introduction by clicking the "Skip" button on the bottom left side.

2. Install the official PS4 Remote Play program

If you haven't already installed the official PS4 Remote Play program, just download and install it from the Sony PS4 Remote Play website. Just provide the path to the PS4 Remote Play program which you've just installed and click "Try again".

3. Start the official PS4 Remote Play program

Once the official PS4 Remote Play program has been found on your PC you can finally start capturing the program. Be aware that you first have to configure the official PS4 Remote Play program so that it can connect to your PS4. You can find a short introduction here.

Just click "Start" to automatically launch the official PS4 Remote Play program. You can choose if you want to automatically launch the PS4 Remote Play program once the PSJoy server starts by check the "Auto start Remote Play" checkbox.

3. Capture the official PS4 Remote Play program

After the PS4 Remote Play program has been successfully launched you can click "Capture" to capture the program. You also have the possibility here to check the "Auto capture Remote Play" checkbox if you wish to auto capture the PS4 Remote Play program the next time you start the PSJoy server. Be aware that your antivirus can block the capture process. If that's the case you have to make an exception for the PSJoy server in your antivirus program. Without these special permissions PSJoy will not work and you will not be able to control your games. Be sure you have unplugged all physically attached Dualshock gamepads from your PC before you click "Capture". It is recommended that you deactivate the "Use keyboard" option in the official PS4 Remote Play program as it can sometimes interfere the Dualshock emulation.

As the PSJoy server is recording and streaming the PCs audio to your smartphone you might get a warning from your antivirus software too. You can find such an example warning dialog in the image below. Please be aware that if you do not grant the PSJoy server access to record your PCs audio you will not be able to stream the sound to your smartphone. If you are only using the PSJoy server with the ShockPad app you can disable the audio and streaming capturing in the settings of the PSJoy server.

4. General hints

If you have successfully captured the PS4 Remote Play app, you will see a similar result like it is shown in the image below. The PS4 Remote Play program should now think that a Dualshock gamepad is connected. If not, stop the official PS4 Remote Play program and try to re-capture it again. In rare cases this needs several attempts in order to work.

After the capturing process, the official PS4 Remote Play program should automatically try to connect to your PS4 (otherwise just click "Start"). Be aware that the official PS4 Remote Play program has to be fully configured in order to successfully connect to your PS4. You can find a short introduction here. Sometimes the PS4 Remote Play program needs several attempts to establish a connection. Don't get confused about randomly appearing PS4 Login Window if you have already entered your user data successfully before. Just cancel the Login Dialog and try to re-connect to your PS4 again.

If you have never entered your PS4 Login data you have to provide your PS4 Login-Id and your password. Just click login afterwards and you should be able to establish a connection from the official PS4 Remote Play program to your PS4.

Once the PS4 Remote Play is running and you have successfully captured the program you can finally establish a connection with your PSJoy or ShockPad app. You can find a detailed instruction here.
