Why is the PSJoy server not working on older Windows versions?

The PSJoy server 1.0.0. is only working on Windows 8.1 and above. The reason why PSJoy is not working on Windows 7 is that you cant't install the official PS4 Remote Play program on a Windows 7 PC. In order to communicate with your PS4 the PSJoy server needs the official PS4 Remote Play program.

Can I establish a connection directly to my PS4?

No, unfortunately not. The communication between the real PS4 Remote Play and the PS4 is encrypted and is not freely usable for 3rd Party applications. I made some attempts to reverse engineer the protocol but so far I did not manage to make it work. Maybe one day I can offer an app which is capable of establishing a connection directly to your PS4 without the need of a PC. In the meantime PSJoy with the help of the PSJoy server offers an alternative way to emulate a Dualshock gamepad. Furthermore, you can even remote access your PS4 if you have a fast and stable internet connection.

Can I remote control my PS4 over the internet?

Although the PSJoy server is able to stream the content over the internet when you have enabled port forwarding on your router, it heavily depends on how fast and stable your internet connection is on both your smartphone and your PC. To be able to stream smoothly on local networks was the main focus though. There is no guarantee that you can stream over the internet as fast as on your local network. You can configure the settings in the PSJoy server to optimize parameters for streaming over the internet. E.g. it is recommended to reduce the resolution and the bitrate. Furthermore, increase the FEC percentage and be sure you have set your FPS value in the official PS4 Remote Play program to 30. Hint: for an easy configuration just go to the settings in the PSJoy server and choose optimized for "INTERNET".

Can I connect more than one device to the PSJoy server?

No. The PSJoy server uses the official PS4 Remote Play program to interact with your PS4. The official PS4 Remote Play protocol does not allow multiple connections to a PS4. But a second player can use an original Dualshock gamepad connected to your PS4, so that you can play multiplayer games. Please note: in order to connect an original Dualshock gamepad while remote controlling your PS4 a second PS4 profile is necessary.

Does PSJoy/ ShockPad support "game XY"?

With the help of the PSJoy server you can basically control every game which is playable via the official PS4 Remote Play program. Today almost every game can be played via Remote Play. Please note: if your game is not playable via the official PS4 Remote Play program you can not control it with PSJoy.

Why does changing the FPS settings in the PSJoy server seems to have no effect?

You have to configure the FPS settings in the official PS4 Remote Play program. The FPS settings in the PSJoy server are only used as fallback when the PSJoy server would not be able to automatically detect the configured FPS value of the official PS4 Remote Play program. So changing the FPS values in the PSJoy server will not have an effect on the actual FPS of the official PS4 Remote Play program.

Why does the blue "Please wait" screen never disappear in the remote view of the PSJoy app?

Be sure that you have successfully captured the official PS4 Remote Play process and that the remote stream is started. If everything is started and you are still not able to receive the stream it is probably just your antivirus or your firewall which are blocking the connection. You have to make an exception for the PSJoy server in order to make it work.

Why do I always receive a "Handshake failed" error in the PSJoy/ ShockPad app during the connect process?

Sometimes this can happen because of network timeouts. Just try it a few more times, usually it will work after 2 or 3 attempts. If not then please restart the PSJoy server and the PSJoy/ ShockPad app and check if the antivirus or the firewall on your PC are not blocking the connection attempt.
