1. Does DroidJoy work on Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch?
Unfortunately no!
DroidJoy works now only on Windows PCs and you have to install the DroidJoy server on your PC in order to communicate with your operating system. Consoles are closed sources and they do not allow to communicate with them in a way to emulate a gamepad. I've already put a lot of effort in creating DroidJoy and I even tried to communicate with a console over a RemotePlay protocol but it just takes too much effort for one single person. Any help in regarding this issue would be highly appreciated.
2. Why does my game not detect the virtual gamepad of DroidJoy?
Most likely because it just supports XInput gamepads. Fortunately DroidJoy is finally able to emulate XInput gamepads out of the box. Just navigate to the specific "Gamepad Tab" and check the "XInput" checkbox. Don't forget to click "Save Config" afterwards.
Furthermore, be sure the DroidJoy server is running when you start your game or emulator. The game may not recognize gamepads which are plugged in/ activated during its runtime. In this case, simply restart your game.
3. Which games are supported?
In general, all games which either supports DInput or XInput gamepads.
Please note: DInput gamepads must be calibrated with the game you want to play and not every game supports both types.
4. I can't connect more than one Smartphone with the DroidJoy server, what can I do?
You have most likely just configured one virtual gamepad. If you want to connect a second Smartphone navigate to another "Gamepad Tab" and activate the "Activate XInput gamepad" checkbox (called "Plugged" checkbox in an older server version). Don't forget to click "Save Config" afterwards. The maximum amount of gamepads which can be configured are four.
In general, you have to configure the same amount of gamepads as the amount of Smartphones which would like to establish a connection to the DroidJoy server.
5. What is the difference between the Lite and the Full version of the DroidJoy app?
The Lite version contains ads which must be viewed to unlock certain features and the customize functionality is not available for free. Beside these limitations the lite version contains all features of the full version and you can use it without any time limitation.
The Full version is not available for free but it includes all features and no ads are included. You only have to purchase it one time and you can install it on all your Android devices. If you want to support me I really appreciate a nice review in the Store.
6. What other possibilities to I have to establish a connection beside WiFi?
If you don't have any WiFi network available at home, you can also establish a connection via Bluetooth. Please be sure that there are many Bluetooth vendors and not all of them are supported by the DroidJoy server. If the Bluetooth label in the DroidJoy server Home Tab is showing Availabe then Bluetooth is supported on your PC. If not, it means that Bluetooth is not enabled or it is not supported on your PC.
You also have the possibility to create a WiFi hotspot with your Smartphone and connect your PC with it. Restart your DroidJoy server and you should be able to establish a connection.
7. I can't establish a connection to the DroidJoy server, what can I do?
If your are using WiFi to establish a connection, be sure that your Smartphone and your PC are both registered on the same WiFi network. If they are, be sure that your Antivirus program or your firewall is not blocking the connection attempts.
Restart the DroidJoy server and the DroidJoy app and try it again. If you are still not able to establish a connection feel free to contact me.
8. What is the point of DroidJoy? It will never be as good as a real Gamepad!
The intention of DroidJoy was never to replace a real gamepad. It doesn't matter how good or how beautiful you design a virtual controller app on a Smartphone, it will never be able to replace a real gamepad. However, the goal of DroidJoy is it to offer the best virtual gamepad experience you can achieve and to use it as an additional tool beside real gamepads.
Just imagine, you have one gamepads at home and a friend is coming over. You want to play some multiplayer games and you would like to use your projector in your living room. Wouldn't it be inconvenient for your friend if he has to use your Keyboard as input device? Not to mention if your girlfriend also wants to join the game. I always try to improve the user experience of DroidJoy so if you ever have some problems or if you are missing a special kind of feature don't hesitate to contact me.
9. I have a problem with DroidJoy or I have a feature request, can I contact you?
Of course!
Don't hesitate to contact me at any time at [email protected] or at the DroidJoy Facebook page. I will try to reply as soon as possible.
