NortonVPN

Proposal

Norton Secure VPN is a reportedly well-liked no-log VPN that uses the Open VPN protocol. It is known for its fast, secure, and varied operations on Windows, Mac, and Android devices. Norton Secure VPN also blocks ad-tracking cookies, which stops annoying ads and enables faster browsing. My hope is to honestly just get a basic understanding of how VPNs in general work, and how this one I have access to functions when compared to other VPNs.

Outline

1. Introdction to VPNs

  • I will go over briefly what VPNs are, how they work, and the general ways they are set up. Mainly because I don't know much about how they work, so I think this paper should also go over how they function before going into specific detail on the singular VPN I'm researching.

2. NortonVPN

  • Here I will very briefly go over the details that uniquely make up the components of NortonVPN. Such details like who makes/hosts the service, which of the security protocols does it fall under, and general aspects that make up the app.

3. Comparisons to Other VPNs

  • Since I only have access to the singular VPN, I'm going to go over in this section findings other articles/users have found when comparing this VPN to others on the market. How fast is it connection-wise, how good is its encryption, how easy is the application to use, aspects like these.

4. Showcase the VPN in action

  • Here I will showcase the VPN in action, both simple examples of regional versions of sites like Netflix with the standard American version compared to different available regions, while also seeing the traffic between them using Wireshark perhaps? In all honesty, I'm a bit lost on how to showcase this part, I might need to discuss with you at some point on how or what I should do here.

5. Conclusions

  • Finally I will go over my opinions on the whole thing. Did I like using it myself? Do I think the benefits of using a VPN make it worthwhile to pay for it? Basically, would I recommend it to someone?
