Blogging - goatandsheep/goatandsheep.github.com GitHub Wiki

This page is more a suggestion to help you write better technology blogs in the future and less of a reference. Blogs are different from reference guides because blogging discusses problems and guides discuss solutions.

Blogs are generally framed in the perspective of a story. Set a goal for yourself of what a proof of concept could look like or what you wanted to apply the technology for and describe your journey towards that goal. Make sure to describe your emotions and personal expectations in the process.

While going through the technology, keep a document open and take notes. Some questions you could ask yourself:

  • What are some things the technology reminds you of? Don't restrict yourself to other technologies. You could even use metaphors.
  • How does this compare to other similar technologies you've used? Was the technology best for the given context? What other contexts would it also be best for?
  • What are some problems you found along the way and how did you solve them?
  • What are some of the nuances about the technology you think everyone should know? Can you show an example?
  • What are some of the things you liked about the technology?
  • How easy was it to follow the documentation?
  • Does the community supplement the documentation's gaps? i.e. live chats, forums, StackOverflow, Github issues, support, etc.

Always remember that blogs are meant to be personal recollections. Everyone has a different tone and style for their blogs and you should too!
