The Common Hippopotamus, called Nile Hippopotamus in earlier versions, is a large, semi-aquatic herbivore native to Africa. In version 2.0, common hippos received a remodel. Untamed hippos are aggressive towards players, and pose a significant threat in a an early survival playthrough. Wild hippos may be attacked by African lions.

Summary

Common hippos are tamed with Pachyderm Kibble and bred with Pachyderm Vials.

Hippos are considered to have a x activity level.

Spawning

Without additional mods installed, hippos will spawn in savanna, sawmpland and jungle biomes, including hills and mutated variants. Hippos will spawn in a group of at least 4 and at most 6.

With other biome mods installed, hippos will, by default, spawn in similar forest and swamp biomes.

Care

Tamed hippos can use the Brush, Salt Lick, Ball, Tire Swing, Scratching Post and Enrichment Ball enrichments.

Common hippos eat a Herbivore-type diet.

Both tamed and untamed hippos have a special animation. If they are fed a melon block, they will crush it in their jaws, complete with particles.
