User Deletion Version 1.2 - May 21, 2018

User deletion module, installed separately from the core WordPress module, is now available.

Upgrading to Version 5.7.x

Customers who already use the Gigya plugin on a version lower than version 5.5 will need to upgrade to version 5.7.x.

Note that this is a significant upgrade incorporating changes in the settings and in the database.

⚠️: Caution: Before upgrading the Gigya plugin, you must make a backup copy of your WordPress database. We advise testing the upgrade in a development environment, rather than immediately running it in a production environment.

Transferring Existing Settings

The upgrade process automatically transfers version 4.x settings to the new version 5.x environment. Please review the plugin after the upgrade and verify that your settings remain unchanged. The system keeps a copy of the version 4.x settings so that you can easily revert the upgrade.

Transferring Additional Parameters settings from version 4.x to version 5.x: The format used to store and enter Additional Parameters has changed and will now incorporate JSON (JavaScript Object Notation). Every effort has been made to ensure that settings are upgraded seamlessly, however customers are requested to check that the upgrade retains previously defined Additional Parameters.

Upgrade Steps

  1. Back up your WordPress database.
  2. Deactivate the existing Gigya plugin (go to the Plugins page in the WordPress dashboard and press Deactivate on Gigya - Social Infrastructure). Rename or move the old Gigya plugin directory.
  3. Download the Gigya WordPress plugin from here.
  4. Activate the new Gigya plugin (in the Plugins page of the WordPress dashboard, press Activate on Gigya - Make Your site Social).
  5. Make sure you re-enter your application secret.
  6. Review the new plugin's settings to ensure that all your previous settings have been restored: Please make sure you read our new guide: Gigya Plugin Configuration.
  7. Review your WordPress site to make sure that all widgets are displayed correctly.
  8. Optional: The Global Settings tab of the version 5.0 Gigya plugin provides a "Database cleaner after upgrade" button, which will remove all traces of version 4.0 from your database. The database cleaner should not be run until you are fully satisfied that the upgrade has been successful, as it prevents reversion to version 4.0. In addition, you should back up your database before running the database cleaner.
