How to use Azure voices - gexgd0419/NaturalVoiceSAPIAdapter GitHub Wiki
NaturalVoiceSAPIAdapter supports the online voices used by the Read Aloud feature of Microsoft Edge. If you want to gain access to more voices or more features of the voices, you can create a free Azure account and use the Azure voices for free.
1. Create an Azure account
Go to https://azure.microsoft.com/free, and click Try Azure for free.
You will need to log into your Microsoft account, or create a new Microsoft account if you don't have one. The newly created Azure account will be linked to this Microsoft account.
On the Your profile page, fill in information such as country/region, name, and phone number (which will need to be verified via SMS or phone call).
On the next page, fill in the information of your credit card or debit card. You will not be charged if you don't use paid services, but you do have to provide the card information in order to create an Azure account.
If you are a student, you may also try applying for an Azure for Students account. This doesn't require a credit or debit card, but you will have to provide your school's name and a school email address to verify your academic status. Go to https://azure.microsoft.com/free/students, and click Start free to start registration.
2. Create a speech resource
Go to https://portal.azure.com.
In the dashboard, click Create a resource.
Type Speech in the search bar, press Enter, and check the box Azure service only. Click on the result called Speech (from Microsoft), and then click Create.
Click the New link under the Resource group combo box. Enter a name for the resource group, and click OK.
In the Region combo box, choose a location that's nearer to you.
In the Name box, Enter a name for this speech resource.
In the Price tier combo box, choose Free F0. You will not be charged, but there's a usage limit of 500 thousand characters per month.
Click Review + Create. Check whether the information shown is correct, and click Create.
Wait for a while, until the deployment finishes.
3. Copy & paste the API key
On the "Your deployment is complete" page, click Go to resource.
Under Keys and Endpoint, there are text boxes labelled "Key 1", "Key 2", "Location/Region", and "Endpoint".
Open the NaturalVoiceSAPIAdapter installer. Check the Enable Azure online voices option, and click Set Azure Key.
The Azure Key dialog requires Key and Region. Copy one of the keys (Key 1 or Key 2) from the webpage, and paste into Key. Copy Location/Region from the webpage, and paste into Region. After that, click OK in the dialog box.
4. Enjoy the Azure voices
Azure voices will be available in the voice list.
If you want voices in other languages to be shown, you can change the Included language setting.
You can also use the Audio Content Creation webpage to create audio content using the voices.
