Setup Guide OGBA flex - gbaHD/GBAHD-Shield GitHub Wiki

The Flex makes the install on the one hand much quicker but also a bit harder, since the flex has to be soldered directly to the CPU pins and this pitch is very small. But on the other hand you don't have to solder all these wires to the testpoints on the board which saves you a lot of time.

Disclaimer: We've ordered the Flex-Cable from OSHpark and had mixed results with broken traces, bridges halfcut vias etc. Use them at your own risk and accept the fact, that you'll have to fix them yourself.

First solder on the 16pin ffc connector to the flex-cable:

Then you need to remove the resistor R5 from the OGBA Mainboard, since it's in the way of the flex cable. Don't loose it, you'll need to add it onto the flex on the R1-Pad

Then align the flex with the CPU Pin - make sure it's aligned directly against the pins:

Solder with a lot of flux and only a litle bit of solder.

After you've soldered the flex in you should check for shorts between the pins and from the flex-connector to the CPU

Solder B+ and G from the flex to the BT+ and BT- points on the OGBA

desolder the power-button and bridge the the pins to have it power on the whole time (optional)
