jotheripper has done an amazing job in designing this cases. You'll find them on thingiverse with all the needed extras e.g. switches etc.

SP Case on Printables.com

  • Before you begin check the Setup Guide GBA-SP site with it's optional steps when using this case!
  • You need to desolder the Powerswitch from the SEA-Board in order to fit it into the case

jotheripper made an video, where he shows how to get the spartan in the case and close up the case.

The case has 4 main pieces:

  • Top
  • Bottom
  • Case itself
  • Cartridge-Flap

Start preparing the switches:

  • Power-Switch with LED
  • Reset-Switch
  • 3.5mm Jack

Screw them into the Case:

Take your assembled Spartan Edge Board with the Shield on top and feed if from the underside at an angle with the SNES Port first: Carefully push it into place, until the Board is fully seated and the Mini-HDMI and USB-C Connector are in place:

Now solder the Reset-Switch, 3.5mm Jack connections and take your flex cables and put it into the shields ffc connectors:

Now you can put the flex cables from the Shield-Board into the Hookup-Board and the display ffc connector on the sp itself. Seat the SP mainboard into its new home - make sure you angle it with the EXP-Port going in first:

Note: Make sure the Power-Switch is in the OFF state!

Now we can solder the wires from the power-switch to the Spartan Edge-Board. Make sure you know which wire is for the LED and the switch itself:

At this point you can test your System. You should be able to start it with the power button, and reset the system with the reset-button. Of course you shoud have an image and be able to control the system with a SNES Controller.

When everything works as expected we can close the case.

Start with the Cartridgeflap:

Put the top on:

Put the bottom on, but make sure the SD Card is NOT inserted. Otherwise you could broke the sd card slot on the Spartan Edge Board:

You can add some rubber feet if you want to.

Put the SD Card into the Spartan Edge Board and enjoy your finished gbaHD-Build
