LAB 33 ‐ NAT Gateway: Enabling Outbound‐Initiated Internet Access for Private Subnets - gautam-amitesh/OCI GitHub Wiki
(NAT) Network Address Translation Gateway is a virtual, scalable Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) component whose throughput & concurrent capacity are automatically adjusted by the gateway itself. It functions as a virtual router, residing in the same logical boundary of the VCN as the Internet Gateway. The NAT Gateway enables cloud resources in a private subnet to initiate outbound connections to the internet while blocking inbound connections initiated from the internet. A VCN can have only one NAT Gateway, which still supports multiple instances in the VCN to concurrently download patches, update operating systems, or connect to external APIs, thanks to its auto‑scalability, without requiring a public IP.
