A the center of the northernmost part of the lake is a large, lush island.
Description
The green island is filled with thick vegetation. A multitude of plant variety fills the island. The coasts of the island are extremely thick with vegetation, coming right up right to the water. Upon closer inspection of the coast, several small sailing vessels are beached and overgrown.
Places
Bugbear Pirate Settlement
The Bugbears have built a fort perched on a small hill on the northern peninsula near the island coast. The fort consists of a 10ft palisade surrounding a half dozen buildings and two 50ft watch towers, one to the west and the other to the south. The fort has a single entrance that points to the west towards a makeshift dock in the protected bay.
On the inside of the fort there are several elevated areas next to the wall, giving the Bugbears several vantage points on the walls. The Bugbears have also prepared six 20ft deep spiked pit traps inside the fort that are well concealed Perception DC 17. In the center of the fort is a cave leading down into the ground. Two large caged pens sit on the northern wall. One is for the ogrillon slaves, the other is for the kobold slaves.
Island of the Triad gods
A small island sits a short distance off the coast of Green Island. Tall stone towers protrude from the island. Three massive 100ft statues sit right on the coast facing Green Island. The statuses are of Tyr, Torm and Ilmater. A stone dock protrudes into the water. Stone walkways travel up into a massive monastery..
Land of the Floran Tribes
Three Floran tribes inhabit the island. They each have different personalities and are often openly hostile towards each other. While the Florans look alike, you can tell them apart by the flower sprouting from their head.
Rose Tribe
The Rose Tribe raises animals for consumption including rabbits, sheep and kobolds. They cut off the arms of the kobolds when they are young to prevent them from running away.
They do not believe that the so called life trees are any more or less worthy than any other plant life on the island. They cultivate a huge variety of plants which they care for. They are incredibly protective of their plants and will kill to protect them.
The lands in the Rose territory is extremely thick with vegetation, making it very difficult to travel through.
Sunflower Tribe
The Sunflower tribe are the most peaceful tribe on the island. They only raise small animals for consumption and prefer to consume rotted plant life to animals.
They believe they are the true guardians of the life trees (baobab trees) that grow in the center of the island.
The lands the Sunflower tribe occupies is well groomed and significantly easier to travel through. The west side of their territory is guarded by a 100 ft wall made of twisted living trees to protect them from the Orchid tribe.
The Sunflower tribe fish in the bay by using boats and nets on shore. There are frequently around a dozen boats on the water fishing at any one time.
Orchid Tribe
The Orchid tribe are religious zealots who ruthlessly murder anyone or anything that enters their territory. They believe in unification of the tribes through any means necessary, including killing off the other tribes. They raise ogrillon, boars, turkeys and cows for food.
The Orchid tribe patrols and fished on their side of the island with a half dozen larger boats, often containing up to five Florans each.
They will actively chase and attack any approaching boats until they are well out of their territory.
No Man’s Land
In the center of the island is a baobab forest. The land in the forest is swampy, with numerous ponds and almost no underbrush. The area is protected by a unique daisy Floran Druid named Colandrial. Colandrial wants to stem the destruction of any of the ancient forest and prevent any of the factions (especially the Bugbears) from taking over.
Colandrial will use diversion techniques to drive visitors into the Bugbears territory. Should the party figure out a way to talk to Colandrial, it will eventually make a deal with them to drive the Bugbears into their fort away from the forests in exchange for a sample of the most ancient Baobab tree. Since Colandrial doesn’t want the Bugbears coming back she wants you to either wipe them out or scare them off the island.
Colandrial is a short Floran with a large daisy perched atop its head. It is very patient, quiet, kind and reflective. It is not afraid of the party but will lash out in insane anger should they attempt to harm it or any of the plants under it’s protection.
