Monastery of Shren Allanar - garnex/faro GitHub Wiki

Elven monastery outside of Nilathbel, home to a sect of the Foxlorn Mystics.

Description

A well kept but narrow path leads up the side of the Shren Allanr mountain to the monastery. The monastery sits atop the mountain, built atop a 300ft cliff, making walls unnecessary. The monastery is a dozen wooden interconnected white buildings with red tile roofs. Hundreds of potted plants sit on the roofs, tended by the monks.

Places

Meditation Room

The meditation room is a mostly empty room. A small elevated platform sits at the head of the room. The wood floors are well heated and divots in the floors mark areas where monks sit and have sat for hundreds of years.

Training Grounds, 2 buildings and a large courtyard.

The training grounds are an outdoor courtyard. Weapons racks filled with training weapons sit on one side. Wooden training dummies sit on the edges of the room.

Kitchen

The kitchen is a communal kitchen meant to server over 20 people. Preparation tables stacked high with produce, cutting blocks and knifes adorn the room. Large kettles sit over well ventilated fire pits, fitted with spits.

Infirmary

Several beds sit in the infirmary. Shelves and tables filled with bags, jars, mortar and pestles, small grinding wheels and scales crowd the room.

Dormitory

Beds with trunks sit in front of them line the room. The beds are perfectly made. The rooms are otherwise neat and clean. The rooms are not split by sex and both men and women sleep in each room.

Elder Chambers

Three beds sit in the corner of the Elder Chambers. In the center of the room sits a large finely carved wooden table. On one wall of the room sits a bookshelf, with a glass front. The shelf is locked with two large padlocks.

Library and Scriptorium

The two rooms are filled with shelves of books and scrolls. In each room two small tables sit on either end of the room.

Observation Deck

The observation deck has large glass windows that look out onto the mountainous landscape. There is nothing in this room except a stack of floor pillows in one corner. When the wind is strong, the glass bows and the room shudders, making you wonder if the rooms foundation is entirely atop the cliff or if part of it is hanging off.

Thaumaturgic Vault

A massive stone door opens into a sparsely populated library. The room is lined with bookshelves, which are a quart full of ancient scrolls and books. Each bookshelf has a glass front that is locked by two padlocks. A large table sits in the center of the room. There are no windows in the vault.

Rules of the Monastery

The monastery has a very strict set of rules for monks and even for strict set for visitors. Visitors are not expected to know the rules and so a monk is assigned to guide them at all times to ensure that all of the monasteries rules are followed.
