Keld - garnex/faro GitHub Wiki
A small mining village in the Rust Mountains.
Description
Keld sits at the bottom of a valley in between mountains. No roads lead into the town. Two dozen homes made of stone with red shingles sit at the bottom of the valley. A mine with a dozen entrances sits on the far side of town, dug into the cliffside. The people of Keld are an equal mix of dwarves and humans.
Places
Temple of Jergal
A small stone domed mausoleum sits in the center of town. The outside of the dome is decorated with symbols of skulls missing their bottom jaw, a scroll in its mouth and a quill stabbed through the scroll. The inside of the mausoleum is I decorated. I the back of the building sits a wall filled with scrolls and books. One of the miners acts as the clergy in the village.
Smelter
A small simple stone building sits next to dozens of clay and stone ovens. Large piles of cooled slag and coal sit next to the building. The building holds shelves with clay pots piled high with copper shavings. Smelters run day and night
Library
The town has a small but surprising interesting library. One of the homes has been converted into a library. Belonging from the old inhabitants are still in the home (pots and pans, beds, etc.). The house is filled with scrolls and books on a huge variety of topics from metallurgy to mining techniques to philosophy and baking.
Mines
A dozen openings in the side of the mountain go deep underground. Next to the holes sit huge piles of rock and stacks of lumber. Directly inside, dozens of bronze pickaxes, shovels and aprons orderly hang on the wall. The mines seem to be constantly worked.
Culture
Attitudes towards outsiders
The people of Keld are not terribly welcoming to outsiders. They are reluctant to speak with them on any manner involving their tradecraft. They look down on all outsiders and scoff at their inferior armor. They will sell normal items at normal cost but will sell any metal item at twice the cost.
