Dealing with Lyz Zotero - ganong-noel/lab_manual GitHub Wiki
Institution names are not represented correctly
If you don't change the settings in Zotero after importing a reference, Lyz may not correctly render the name of an institition. For example, instead of "Fannie May"/"Office of the Comptroller of the Currency", the references will read "Mae, Fannie"/"Of the Comptroller of the Currency, Office". The settings can be changed by clicking the button circled below which will swap the name field export to BibTeX recognizing that it is a single name rather than a given name and a surname.
Lyz refuses to update citations
After updating citations in Zotero, I don't know how to get Lyz to update the bibliography to correctly represent the changes. I have found updating the bibliography (through the Lyz menu in Zotero), deleting and re-adding the citation in Lyx and the pair combined to not work to correct citations. Instead I think the easiest method is to:
- Delete the bibliography using the Lyz menu in Zotero "Delete BibTex record ..."
- Select all of the citations in the Zotero collection and add them to the Lyx document (e.g. all at the end of the document).
- . Lyz will prompt you to create a new bibliography, which you should do writing over the old bibliography
- Delete the citations you added in Lyx and then recompile
- If author names (e.g. because a new first author was added), year (e.g. if a working paper was updated) or title were changed, you will need to update the reference in Lyx to refer to the correct paper. It is helpful to compile the paper and check for references BibTex cannot find by searching for "?".
