The Voyager Mars (BDB Nomad) probes were concepts developed for the Apollo Applications Program as precursors to a crewed Mars landing. The spacecraft consists of a separate orbiter and lander, and is launched on a Saturn V rocket. The orbiter is a modified Mariner probe and the lander is derived from Surveyor, adding an aeroshell and parachute/retrorocket landing system.
