A Tanager is a passive mob that lives in tropical regions. They were added in the 1.5.0 Color Update.

Behavior

Movement

Tanagers fly randomly and prefer to fly towards tree tops. They will swim when in contact with water. Being diurnal, they sleep at night.

Breeding

Tanagers are omnivores, and can be bred with mealworms, sweet berries or melon slices. Baby tanagers will follow their parents and cannot fly. Females lay 1-5 eggs, and each egg has a 40% chance of hatching.

Spawning

Tanagers spawn in jungles in groups of 3-5.
