Doves comprise a family of birds characterized by their short, stout bodies. They can be found as fruit doves or domesticated doves.

Behavior

Movement

Doves fly randomly and prefer to fly towards tree tops. They will swim when in contact with water. Being diurnal, they sleep at night.

Taming

Domestic doves, rock doves, bleeding-hearts and golden-hearts can be tamed using wheat seeds, melon seeds or beetroot seeds. Fruit doves can be tamed with melons or apples. They will follow the player and sit when commanded to. They will not sleep when following the player.

Spawning

Different variants naturally spawn in different biomes. The fruit doves will spawn in jungle biomes, while the other doves will spawn in forest and plains biomes. Their default spawn weight is 25, and they spawn in groups of 2-5.

Summon Command

/summon creatures:dove ~ ~ ~ {Variant:1,Gender:1}

The above command will spawn a male jambu fruit dove. The variants and the numbers associated with them are in the next section. To spawn a male dove, use Gender:1, to spawn a female, use Gender:0.
