RoadMap

Following points from the roadmap are achieved:

  • Switch to OpenWrt 22.03 (#2426 - [👤 neoraider])
  • ar71xx -> ath79 Migration (#2413 - [👤 aiyion], all)

Further Changes:

  • Babel is now actively being worked on again.

wireguard-vpn + vxlan

  • For "Layer 3-Gluon", the vxlan layer is not necessary and should be avoided.
  • How do we alter the current wireguard implementation (in gluon) in order to allow wireguard without vxlan.
  • Gluon expects an interface "mesh-vpn" in a lot of cases.
    • Especially it is also in batman-adv not easy to

ddhcpd maintenance

  • It was introduced for babel in gluon.
  • We also find it interesting in general for gluon.
  • [👤 Sargon] is not active anymore.
  • Idea:
    • Friendly Fork des ddhcpd in der freifunk-gluon org.
    • Offene PRs anschauen.
  • Idea will be followed. [👤 Klaus_Dieter] is doing it.
  • The package is also in the community-packages.
    • The ddhcpd package can be moved to the gluon package then.

bugfix gluon-web-model

olsr2: how to best continue / what is wanted

  • What to do with problems, where the mesh network in Graz has differences to what gluon supports, but gluon doesn't want to support it?
  • Mesh without vxlan?
    • We do not want to support disabling vxlan for mesh-on-lan/-wan.
      • Would add complexity.
      • Does not add additional value.
    • Maybe we could add an interface role "mesh-without-vxlan", which could be set manually.
  • Make OSLRv1/OLSRv2 work with IPv4?
    • We first want to have only OLSRv2 support in gluon and see from there.
    • (This would probably require a large patch for graz.)

gluon-mesh-vpn-key-translate

  • gluon-mesh-vpn-key-translate.c could be more generic.

gluon v2022.2?

  • Is there anything significantly new?
  • Maybe release v2022.1.2 instead?

Contribution Culture in Gluon

  • Often it takes long to get a good review.
  • Good reviews often only come from [👤 NeoRaider]. But this can take long.
  • The maintainers could look through issues/PRs more often and "remove the garbage" more efficiently
    • Has happend more often now
