A visual artist is anyone (including people, animals, groups or companies) that has created a visual artwork.

• Fine artists such those who make paintings, prints and sculptures (e.g. Auguste Rodin, Gustave Baumann, Gaston Lachaise)

• Contemporary artists such as those who make assemblage, collage and mixed-media arts (e.g. Louise Berliawsky Nevelson, Michael Dickinson, Abdala Faye)

• Artists who make decorative artworks such as textile and ceramic arts (e.g. Clarice Cliff, Dextra Nampeyo Quotskuyva, Jo Budd, Diane Itter)

• Artists who make film-based arts such as photography and video art (e.g. Sally Mann, Inge Morath, Shuli Nachshon, Nam June Paik)
