A disease is an abnormal condition of the human body that causes discomfort or impairs bodily functions. This type also includes medical conditions such as injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, etc. that affect the normal functioning of a person, whether physically or mentally.

• Diseases caused by viruses (e.g. Common cold, Measles)

• Diseases caused by bacteria (e.g. Cholera, Tuberculosis)

• Zoonosis and vector-borne diseases transmitted from animals to humans (e.g.Avian flu, Lyme disease, Bubonic plague, Yellow fever)

• Genetic disorders and hereditary diseases (e.g. Haemophilia, Down syndrome, Sickle-cell disease)

• Chronic diseases and medical condition influenced by other factors such as heredity, environment, age and lifestyle (e.g. Breast cancer, Obesity, Arthritis)

• Learning disabilities, communication and mental disorders (e.g. Dyslexia,Autism, Bipolar Disorder)

• Injuries and disabilities (e.g. Burn, Snow blindness)
