Type Definition

A Film Series is a collection of related films, Duologies, Trilogies, etc. These are often films in succession with a continuous plot, a film and its sequels and/or its prequels, and sometimes are installment of films with the same theme but with stories not directly connected/related to each other.

Things that are Film Series

• Succession of related films such as Before Trilogy, Underworld, Harry Potter and The Bourne Films.
• Multiple Film works like Three Colors and Shake, Rattle & Roll.
• Film Projects consisting of multiple compilation feature films like Ten Minutes Older.
• Documentary Films that shares the same theme or about the same subject matter such as [The Black Man's Land] (https://www.freebase.com/m/0hr6mlk) and Why Democracy?.

Things that are not Film Series

• Television Series/Program such as Supernatural and Game of Thrones.
• Fictional Universe such as Oz Universe. The Film Oz: The Great and Powerful and The Wizard of Oz are set in the same fictional universe but they are not consider as part of a same Film series.
• Crossover films such as Aliens vs Predator is not a part of either Aliens or Predator series.
• A Film and its remake(s)/reboot(s) are not considered as a Film series, i.e. Total Recall and Total Recall(2012) can't be considered as Total Recall Series.
• Film Spin Offs are not considered part of a Film series, i.e. The Scorpion King is a spin off and not part of The Mummy Series and Puss in Boots is not part of the Shrek Series.
