Integrating Joule with Microsoft 365 Copilot

Target users: SAP users

Overview

This process connects your SAP Joule AI assistant with Microsoft 365 Copilot, allowing users to ask questions that combine data from both systems. This gives employees one place to go to get answers using both SAP business information and Microsoft 365 documents.

  • Trust established between Microsoft Entra ID and SAP Cloud Identity Services, with Entra registered as the Corporate Identity Provider using OIDC
  • All intended users created in the SAP Cloud Identity Services User Store
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses purchased and rolled out to your user base
  • JouleAdmin role collection in SAP BTP

Configuring Microsoft Entra ID for Joule Integration

Before you begin

  • You need a dedicated Microsoft Entra ID tenant for each Joule environment.
  • Development and production environments require separate Entra ID tenants.
  • For testing, use a dedicated Microsoft 365 tenant.

Steps

  1. Set up your Entra Application.

    • Use the existing application for Entra-IAS federation.
    • Add the required permissions and APIs for Joule integration.
  2. Follow the detailed setup guide.

Connecting Joule to Your Microsoft 365 Tenant

Steps

  1. Add the Microsoft 365 system in SAP BTP.

    • Go to the BTP Cockpit and navigate to your system landscape.
    • Choose to add a new system.
    • Select the system type "M365 Copilot for SAP Joule".
    • Enter the Microsoft 365 Tenant ID you noted down.
  2. Activate the integration.

    • New Joule setup: Activate this integration when running the Joule Booster.
    • Existing Joule setup: Include the newly created system in your existing formation via the BTP cockpit.

Note: Important: Joule is powered by Generative AI. Always review its output before use. Do not enter sensitive personal data or any other personal information you do not wish to be processed.
