1. Create project structure with maven

mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeArtifactId=jersey-quickstart-webapp \
            -DarchetypeGroupId=org.glassfish.jersey.archetypes -DinteractiveMode=false \
            -DgroupId=com.example -DartifactId=example-name -Dpackage=com.example \
            -DarchetypeVersion=2.4.1

2. Your pom.xml file should look like this:

Especial attention to

   <build>
        <finalName>simple-service-webapp</finalName>
        <plugins>
            <plugin>
                <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
                <artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId>
                <version>2.5.1</version>

And to the dependencies, do not support 2.0 Servlet API.
