What do I need to get involved?
You do not need to have any technical ability or prior experience to do so. All that's required is the desire to interact with people and the ability to use Slack.
What will I be able to do that a standard avatar can't?
As part of the team, you will be able to:
- Have the ability to operate as the "Oracle" via the fountains inworld. This lets you answer avatars questions and ponderings completely anonymously
- Be able to use bureaucrats to start inworld events with ease (to be expanded on)
- Help bring NeoHabitat to life!
Would I have to police things inworld?
Typically in other communities you tend to find things like guidelines or set rules. NeoHabitat doesn't have any rules regarding conduct as such. Much like the original world, we intend to let the community decide on the rules and enforce them themselves. As a member of the community team, this means it's important to have your ear to the ground as to what these social norms are.
If you do experience something inworld you feel goes against these norms, bring it up to Stu and it will be looked into further.
What about time? Do I have to be on a schedule?
There is no solid time commitment required. We would prefer that if you do wish to join us, you would want to be an active part of the team. We realize that things can be quiet but it's our hope over time that will change.
Is this for me?
If you've been watching this project but felt unable to contribute but you want to get involved, this is the best time to get involved.
NeoHabitat is going to be running permanently from March 19th and so we're planning for the future. It's the first ever MMO created and whilst it serves as a history lesson in one aspect, we would love to see a new community flourish. NeoHabitat may be 30 years old but the power of community is still as relevant now as it was then, if not more so. People bring the world to life, interactions can create memories that last a lifetime and NeoHabitat still has the ability to do that, despite its age.
If this is something you feel a passion for then please contact Stu via the Slack.
