Set Up Email

(Thanks to Tom Bedford for guidance.)

This is so that you can email yourself non-Kindle content, like PDFs.

  1. Log into amazon account.
  2. Hover over "account and lists" (upper, right), select "Content and Devices"
  3. Select "Preferences" tab
  4. Scroll down and select "Personal Document Settings"
  5. Select "Add a new approved e-mail address"

Send Content

Find the raw files for PDFs imported into iBook: 

cd ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBooks/Books
ls
open .

Use mail app to send a message to the kindle.com account SFORD_AMAZONPSRS3J. Attach the desired PDF. If the PDF contains the text, might want to set the subject to "convert", which converts the PDF into a kindle format. (For scanned docs, this is probably not a good idea.)

.epub files can also be sent; use "convert" on the subject line.
