Some projects that I might want to do with my grandkid.

Electro-magnet. Make a small crane. Battery holder with switch. Maybe alligator clips for wiring.

• Have him wind the magnet? Maybe start with one pre-wound that doesn't work very well, and he makes a better one? Wind it on a bolt, perhaps with a hole drilled
• Variable resistor: https://www.amazon.com/US-SA-AJD-144156-Nichrome-Resistance-Heating-Resistor/dp/B019MNNRN2/ref=sr_1_4 string across a box opening, clip to the wire itself. 138 ohms/meter - 7 mm per ohm. 1.5V across 1 ohm is 2.25 watts; won't get too hot.
• "electric train" with AAA battery, rare earth magnets, and coiled wire?
