I hate the new outlook - fordsfords/fordsfords.github.io GitHub Wiki

My work rolled out a new version of Outlook for Mac that I hate.

  1. I can't paste without formatting. Oh sure, there's an "edit"->"Paste and match style", which goes part-way there (gets rid of font size and style and some other things), but if the text if bold, it retains the bold. If the text is a link, it retains the link. The old Outlook had "keep text only", which is almost always what I want. I use "keep text only" probably 20 to 30 times per week.
  2. If an email embeds remote images, you can't turn off downloading and rendering those images. This is a privacy issue.
The problem with the upgrade is that flipping the switch to "old" outlook loses the zoom addon when scheduling a meeting. So now I have to:
  • Start the zoom app.
  • Click the big orange "New Meeting" button.
  • At the bottom, expand "participants" and select "invite".
  • Copy invitation.
