#Introduction Culture is a game where the players must maximize the cultural value of Delft. This is done through various minigames. #Gameplay The game world is a map of a known area, such as Delft or the Netherlands. On this map, there are various points of interest, such as the TU Library or the Oude Kerk. These points of interest produce culture which the players must seek to maximize. The methods influencing culture output are as follows

  • improving buildings: By sacrificing culture, buildings can be improved to produce more culture over time.
  • Play minigames: Minigames give a temporary boost to culture production

Culture is also damaged. Buildings require maintenance, they deteriorate over time (degrading to their pre-upgraded version) and various ingame events (such as natural disasters or invasions) have a cultural cost as well.

#Interaction Players gather around the table, and are invited to drag points of interest towards themselves. After doing so, a window opens containing a minigame. More players involved in the same minigame means cooperative games become possible.

Examples include

  • Sort books, keep the library quiet
  • Manage festivals on the market square
  • Regulate boat traffic in de grachten, and clean up bikes

Also, minigames might involve multiple points of interest. Examples include:

  • Exchange books between the city library and the TU library
  • Play a song together using the church bells on the market square

Some special events require the whole table. In this case there can't be multiple minigames open and all players cooperate for some common goal, such as fighting off an invasion.

#Feedback The more culture is generated by the city, the more colorful and active the city should be, providing a visual reward for the players.

#Challenges For a good gaming experience, the game must adapt itself based on the amount of players that are playing. Therefore, a method will be needed to estimate the amount of players present.
