General

Purpose of the app

The purpose of the app is to track and automatically calculate points in the card game Cabo.

Game modes

The app contains two game modes with which you can start a game.

Mode "100 points" / "X points"

This mode follows the standard Cabo rules. As soon as a player has exceeded 100 points, a round is over. If a player reaches exactly 100 points, 50 points will be deducted. The 100 points can be changed in the settings to play with a custom point limit. If x points are set, $\frac{x}{2}$ points will be deducted if a player reaches exactly x points. The game will end if one player reaches more than x points.

[!TIP] Example: If you have set a point limit of 250 points, each player will always have 125 points deducted if he or she reaches exactly 250 points. The game will end if a player reaches a score of 251 or more.

"Unlimited" mode

In this mode you have no limit and can play as long as you want. However, you can end a game manually by selecting the "End game" option in the "Game" section of the game overview.

Create a game

To create a game, go to the main menu and select either the “+” icon at the top right or, if you have not yet created a game, you can also click on the “+” icon in the middle of the screen

You will be taken to the “New game” view. Here you can give your game a name (at least one character), select a mode (see #Game modes) and add players to the game (minimum two, maximum five). Every gamer needs a name thats at least one character long. To finalize the game, select the “Create game” button at the bottom.

Play a game

After you have clicked on the "Create game" button, you will be redirected to the game overview. Alternatively, you can open one of the existing games from the main menu. In this view you will then see all the information about your current Cabo game

"Players" section

All players are listed here with their current ranking and points.

[!NOTE] Double placings are not yet possible. This means that even if two players have the same number of points, they will still be displayed in different places.

"Rounds" section

Here you will find all the rounds played so far and the next open round. Immediately after creating the game, only the first round is visible here. Rounds played so far are indicated by a green checkbox (✅), rounds not yet played by an hourglass (⏳)

"Statistics" section

Here you can view statistics and overviews of the game

  • Under "Game History" you can view a graph showing the progress of the game with the points scored by all players.
  • Under “Points Overview” you can view a detailed table with all rounds and the points lost or earned.

"Game" section

Here you will find general options for the game.

  • The "Delete game" button deletes the current game irrevocably
  • The "New game with same settings" button opens the "New game" view and copies the game name, mode and player name from the current game.
  • The "Export game" button lets you export the current game. This can be imported to another device in the settings under "Import game data" to move game data back and forth between devices (see #Import and export game data)
  • The "End game" button (only for games in "Unlimited" mode) allows you to mark a game as ended (see # End of a game).

Play a round

To start the game, select the first round. The "Results" view opens. Now you can play the first round of Cabo.

After you have finished the round, select who said Cabo and enter the card total that each person still had in their hand at the end.

[!IMPORTANT] Please always enter the card total you have in your hand at the end. The app will then automatically calculate who gets how many points.

If one of you has reached Kamikaze, you can simply press the “Kamikaze” button and select the person who has Kamikaze.

The "Done" button takes you back to the overview and the "Next round" button opens the next round.

End of a game

Depending on the mode, the game ends in different ways (see game modes). As soon as the game has ended, no new round is created. Existing rounds can still be called up and the points entered there can be overwritten. The winner of the respective game is displayed in the main menu.

Settings

"Points" section

Here you can change the default values of the app. The Cabo penalty is the value that is added to your score if you say Cabo but are not the person with the fewest points in hand.

The point limit is the upper limit in "100 points" mode. It determines the number of points that must be exceeded by a person for a game to be over.

You can use the "Reset to default" button to reset these two values to the app default.

[!IMPORTANT] The changed point values only affect newly created games, not games that have already been created.

"Game data" section

In this section, you can either import game data that you or others have already exported, export your own game data or delete all game data in the app.

"App" section

In this section you will find useful resources and information about the app.
