Support - firetools/blenderfds GitHub Wiki

:information_source: Updated to BlenderFDS 6.0.x

This wiki page explains how to obtain support from the BlenderFDS Community.

Obtain support

Before asking for support you should:

  • have at least read the pages of this BlenderFDS Wiki documentation, in particular the Quickstart;
  • be somehow a little proficient with Blender and FDS;
  • search the Discussion Group for relevant keywords: has someone else already asked your question?

If your problem is still not solved, take time to prepare your question. A simple example file is worth a thousand words. Make sure your software is up to date.

Only at this point politely ask a question on the discussion group to the BlenderFDS Community of unpaid volunteers. Keep in mind that no one has the full time job of providing user support.

If you are reporting a bug then you should submit an issue instead of asking on the Discussion Group.

Submit an issue

Before submitting an issue you should search the current issues for relevant keywords, has someone else already submitted your same issue?

If your issue is still not fixed, take time to prepare your submission. A simple demo file for the issue is worth a thousand words. Reproduce the problem with the latest version of BlenderFDS and a simplified version of your input file.

Only after that preparation, submit an issue.

Once we have hopefully fixed your report, please verify the fix once we release a new version.

Use of Copyrighted Material

Do not post copyrighted material to Issues or to the Discussion Forum unless you personally own the rights to the material. Should a publisher file a DMCA complaint with Google or Github about BlenderFDS, the project could be banned from these services.

If we find copyrighted material being posted, the offending post will be deleted and the user who made the post could even be banned.
