emultimedia workflows - fieldmuseum/EMu-Documentation GitHub Wiki
General Considerations
-
Pre-EMu multimedia checklist
- Do you have the media/files already? (Or are you about to create them?)
- Why is/was the media generated?
- Create an Event record to document the purpose of the imaging/media project. This should document who generated the media, when, permits & funding, and associated catalog/event/other records, if any.
- e.g. - How to document a Research Project in EMu
- Does it belong to the Field Museum? Can we use & archive it?
- Permissions should be obtained using the Field Museum Media Agreement [draft] if no other contract/license otherwise exists for Multimedia generated for a Field Museum project.
- For related workflows, see erights module documentation
- What type of file is it?
- See Standard formats
- Check for the relevant emultimedia workflow/s on this page
- What does its filename look like?
- See existing File Naming conventions]
- How big is it?
- Do you need to request scratch_space?]
- Once it’s in EMu, what do you need to do with it?
- e.g., Do you need to serve/publish it online somewhere else?
-
Four required Audiovisual Core terms
- AudIdentifier (dcterms:identifier) [defaults to multimedia GUID]
- DetResourceType (dc:type) [EMu/Resource Type needs to use the DCMI controlled vocab]
- DetMediaRightsRef (dc:rights) [we need to check defaults + existing mm records]
- DetLanguage (ac:metadataLanguageLiteral) [“English” - default for now]
