Simple Beginners Regiment for making Gil with Saddlebag Exchange - ff14-advanced-market-search/saddlebag-with-pockets GitHub Wiki
You can get started today earning tons of gil with the least amount of effort possible using Saddlebag Exchange!
Here's where to start out:
1. Use the Reselling Search and Market Overview to find items to buy
Go to the Reselling Searches and find some items to trade! These will find the most profitable items you can buy from other servers or buy from vendors to sell on your marketboard. Then you put them up and profit! You should diversify and fill out all 40 of your retainer slots with different items, the more diversity the more opportunities for profit.
The best to start out with are:
- The out of stock searches for HQ Out of Stock and NQ Out of Stock. No one else is selling these so you can sell them for any price you want and you can find many cheap options for under a few thousand gil. You can even get started just with the gil you earn from quests leveling up to level 20 when you first access your retainers.
- If you have a bit of gil to invest at the start try the Olivias Medium Furniture Sell or Olivias Medium Consumable Collectibles Sell. These can cost a bit more to get started but the margins are very good!
- If you want to be very lazy then you don't even have to server hop and you can use the NPC Vendor Search to find the best items to sell that you can get from vendors.
- If you have a lot of gil to invest, you can also use our Market Overview tool. The Highest Price Increases (Weekly) will find which items actually earned the most gil and are either out of stock or are priced so high they might as well be out of stock! We also have a premade market overview for vendor items as well which will also find many items that are out of stock or have high prices!
2. How to Pick items from these lists?
You will then need to decide what to sell. Either pick:
- The lowest priced options for low risk.
- Fast sale rates for more sales
- Or highest profit for the largest gil earned per sale. A high ROI is also good.
You will get a feel for what items are best as you go along, but it's good to start off with high profit margins.
The out of stock items have unlimited profit potential so you may want to go with the lowest priced and fastest selling options there.
Once you decide what you want to sell go server hopping and vendor shopping to get your items from the lowest sources. When server hopping make sure you check the marketboard prices before buying anything as sometimes the Universalis data we rely on can be a bit out of date.
3. How to price your items?
The simple answer is:
- If someone else is already selling an item you're interested in then sell 1 gil lower than their price.
- If it is out of stock then selling for about 70,000 tends to do the best.
The better answer is to use our Item-Data
we have a full guide on this if you are interested. When you click that Item-Data
link you will see our statistics on that item.
This will show you the average sale price for the item region wide and a distribution of all recent sale prices. When the item is out of stock or priced ridiculously high, you should sell it for the highest number you see on that list!
Here we can see the Oriental Partition
has sold for as high as 100k so you should probably put it up that high to start!
4. Monitoring your undercuts and keeping tabs on your items.
Some of your items will easily sell and have next to no competition. When that happens go back to step 1) pick new items and start again. Otherwise you will need to update your prices and undercut any new listings that come around.
The best way to do this is to setup our Undercut Alerts. Whenever our discord bot finds that you have been undercut and sends you a message just hop on and update your prices to be 1 gil less than the new competitors listings.
If you want to be lazy can also just hop on once a day to update listing prices and find new items to fill out your retainer slots.
The more you undercut, the more you sell and the more gil you earn. So it is better to pay attention to these and use undercut alerts.
5. Profit
Thats it pretty simple. Now start dreaming of that Large Mansion plot!
