A reference guide to everything that is in Etherology

Preface

Have you heard stories about a mysterious energy that can grant its owner supernatural powers? In different nations it was called Mana, Vis-energy and other names. In the science that studies reality and the possibilities of its distortion - Etherology, it is customary to call this particle Ether.

Start

The first thing you need to do is find amethysts, and also get calcite (they are quite useful in this mod).

The Way to Azel

Delve into the deep darkness and find a new rare rock called Attrahite of a dark blue hue. This material is a source of unimaginable power, capable of distorting the surrounding space. Attrahite is a very fragile material, so don't be surprised if nothing drops on the first try. With a rare chance, the rock can drop Enriched Attrahite, the Luck enchantment can increase the chance of obtaining. This gem has a strong effect on the surrounding matter, so for safety, it is possible to store a maximum of 16 units in one stack. Enriched Attrahite has too many impurities and is refractory enough to smelt into an ingot for further work, so use Calcite as a flux to remove its drawbacks. The resulting mixture Raw Azel can be safely smelted in a furnace to obtain an important resource of the mod - Azel Ingot.

Divine intervention

Craft a Empowerment Table. This station is similar to a workbench, but the corner slots only hold Primoshard's. To obtain them, you will need an Oculus, which is created on the same table, fortunately, it does not require shards. The Oculus is the most important tool of the mod. Through its lens, you can see the composition of any item (as a drop, or in the inventory, if you take the Oculus with the mouse and point it at any item), block or mob, as well as see invisible bodies, such as Divine Seals.

Divine seals are found all over the world, most often in those places, the aspect which they personify. The generation of seals will still change. There are 4 fundamental aspects, the bases of the whole world of Etherology - Rela (Reality, the element of Earth), Clos (Fiction, the element of Air), Via (Subject, the element of Fire), Keta (Object, the element of Water). Each seal has a radius and strength of action: the radius indicates the size of the seal, and the strength indicates the brightness of the aura (colored mist).

Divine Seals are clots of Primordial Essence, and to obtain a shard, you will need to create a Sedimentary Stone. Place the Sedimentary Stone near the seal and activate it with a redstone signal. To make sure it works, take the Oculus: if the particles are drawn into the stone, then the process has begun. Keep in mind that Sedimentary Stones can deplete the source, so do not forget to keep an eye on the seals. And to automate this process, create an Arcanelight Detector and place it near the source, its redstone signal strength directly depends on the strength of the seal.

Now you have to wait, it's not a quick process. You will notice how the sedimentary stone will gradually begin to be covered with sediment. When the stone is completely covered, use the axe to cut the stone and get the primary fragment.

Like the 4 basic aspects, there are 4 types of primoshard's, you should preferably organize the extraction of all of them for further advancement in the mod. With the help of these shards on the table of greatness, you will have access to recipes for new magical items.

Golden Forest

It's time to go on an adventure and find the fairytale forest Golden Forest! This biome is often found near birch forests. Golden Forest is filled with many amazing plants, such as Peach Trees (a new type of tree), Lightlet (regular grass, but glowing), Forest Lanterns (glowing mushrooms that grow only on peach logs and are placed on a vertical surface) and occasionally Beamer (magical plants that bloom only in places of power).

Forest lanterns can be used as a light source, cooked into nutritious Mushroom Crumb, or crafted into leather. Beamers are currently in development. Their fruit, the Beam fruit, is often used in alchemy due to its beneficial aspects. They can be propagated like any other crop, but the propagation method may change in the future.

Slitherite is a new stone mod. It has a pale beige color and an unusual texture. It can be used to create beautiful variations of building blocks, but its special use is in the creation of pedestals.

Pedestal - is a decorative block on which you can place any object. The object will then appear above the block. The pedestal can be placed on top of each other, then they will begin to connect, creating a column. You can lay a tablecloth on the pedestal. Use a carpet as a tablecloth, extra coziness never hurts!

Peach trees are the jewel of the Golden Forest. Their foliage shimmers with gold, their planks have a pleasant hue, but most importantly - the streaks of Ebony on the Weeping Peach Logs. To collect resin from the bark, use an axe. Ebony has useful aspects for alchemy, and is also used to create the important resource Ebony Ingot in the brewing crucible.

Ebony can be used to create a full set of tools and armor. Due to its unusual property, it becomes easier to move in armor. Each piece of armor speeds up the player by 7.5%. The armor can also be decorated with vanilla trim. The armor and tools are still being tested.

Alchemy

When using the Oculus, you may have noticed aspects within each item. To begin using them, you will need to create a Brewing Сauldron.

Place the crucible over a heat source, fill it with water and wait for the water to boil (this may take a while). Once the water boils, the crucible is ready for use.

Throw items into the crucible and they will float in the water (max 8), Shift+RMB with an empty hand will return the last thrown item. To split items into aspects, simply right-click with an empty hand and the spoon will stir the contents. Note that split items cannot be returned. Craft and equip in the special mask slot (aim at the helmet slot) Revelation View to see the aspects inside the crucible.

Note that improper handling of the Cauldron will cause clouds of pollution, which will contribute to the corruption of the current chunk. To quickly clean the Cauldron, use an empty bucket, as a result it will fill with muddy water. You can pour it elsewhere to empty the bucket in exchange for the contamination of the chunk. To find out the degree of corruption, create a Warp counter. The higher the level of danger - the higher the value.

For a successful alchemical synthesis, you will need to throw the catalyst (the final item) into a crucible filled with the necessary aspects. It's simple if you follow the recipe, the only difficulty is finding items with the necessary aspects.

Inventions

Etheroscope is a device for storing sedimentary Ether, an important part in subsequent mechanisms.

First, create Ether Channels. They can direct the Ether in the direction the channel is facing (the iron part on the channel texture will help you understand which way it is facing), and the redstone signal can stop the flow. The channel has several inputs, but one output, namely the output when placed is directed in the direction the player is facing. Use the Stream Key to rotate the installed channel.

It was said earlier that the ether channel has only one output, but if you want to send Ether to several channels, use the Ether Fork. The Ether received in it is divided by the number of connected channels, but the flow rate will drop significantly.

To hide the broadcast channels, use Channel Case. By clicking on the channel, it will take the form of a full block, preserving its properties. If Ether is an omnipresent and all-pervading medium, why not simply extract it from the «air»? ** Spinner** and Metronome are ether-generating devices from the same family, but of different capacities. They are capable of generating sedimentary Ether from the environment, but there are nuances. Firstly, they must be located at least 3 blocks from each other. Secondly, they cannot work forever: there is a high chance that the spinner or metronome will simply become clogged with sediment, and you will have to constantly service them, lubricating them with pine oil.

If everything in the world is made of ether, why not just extract it from matter? Ethereal Furnace is the second ether-generating device. It is currently in development, but its functionality is that it generates ether by burning and breaking down certain objects. (You can test it by placing an Ender Pearl)

Create a Glint using alchemy. This shard can store 128 units of Ether like a battery. When charged, the Glint will begin to glow, an expected energy leak, well, Ether is an all-pervasive medium, it's surprising that there are materials that can somehow contain it.

Storage – is a block capable of accumulating 64 units of Ether. Its slots are designed for Glints. So, first of all, Ether will flow into them, and only then into the internal compartment of the storage. You can take a Glint at any time, this will not interfere with the operation of the Storage. Consumption – side walls of the block, source – the bottom of the block.

Socket Simple in its essence. Insert the Glint's into the compartment to start broadcasting.

Levitator – the first ether-consuming device. It can be placed at any angle. By connecting a channel with an Ether flow to it and activating it with a redstone signal, the levitator will begin its work. The repulsion mode (green particles) repels all creatures that are on the way, the attraction mode (purple particles), on the contrary, attracts all entities to itself. The power of repulsion or attraction depends on the strength of the redstone signal. (Note that an activated redstone can accidentally turn off the channel that is connected to the levitator)

Staffs

While exploring the world, you will often come across strange Tablets with styles. These tablets are relatives of armor trims, only they are applied to Staffs instead.

To create your own staff, you will need a Binder. This unusual material is capable of controlling spiritual energy. When creating a staff, you can choose what kind of wood the shaft will be made of.

Now, to apply the tablet styles to the staff, you will need to create a new station - Inventor Table. After opening it, you will see 3 slots at the top of the interface. The first slot is for the staff, the second - the Tablet, and the third - any metal ingot.

There are 7 types of tablets, and each of them gives its own design. Place any tablet in the table and add an ingot, at the bottom of the interface there will be a choice of which part you want to upgrade. Specifically for the staff, there are only 3 finishes: Pommel, Decoration, and Tip. You can combine styles and materials to create your own custom staff!

That's not all the customization of the staff! By combining a carpet of any color with a staff in the crafting grid, you will receive a Staff with a beautiful handle. To remove the handle, use the scissors in the crafting grid.

Generation of Tablets:

  • Traditional - at the blacksmith's
  • Heavenly - in sunken ships
  • Aristocrat - in the mansion
  • Ritual - in a desert temple
  • Royal - in the Piglin Bastion
  • Ocular - in the End cities
  • Astronomy - in a jungle temple

Distortion of reality

If there are staves, then there must be magic! Lenses are an alchemical product that can refract spiritual energy and become matter, but for this it must be tuned. The jewelry table can help with this.

Jewelry Table is the second ether-consuming device. To make it work, lay the ether channel to the bottom of the block. If you start the flow, a leak will start from the top of the table, do not let the ether go away without a trace, always place the levers.

To create your first (and so far only) attuned lens, open the Jeweler's Table interface and place an unattuned lens in the only slot. The center of the interface is the work area, to the right of which is the lens's durability indicator.

To set up a lens, you need to break it strictly according to the template. If you poke the grid with RMB, a small hole will be created and the minimum durability of the lens will be spent. If you poke the grid with LMB, a large hole will be created and a little more durability will be spent. If there are small holes in the path of a large blow, they will connect, creating a crack. Note that if there is a large hole in the path of a large blow, it will also connect, but it will spend more durability. The process is that the player needs to logically break the grid so that the correct pattern is obtained.

If you made a mistake, turn on the ether flow. After some time, the lens will be filled with Ether and completely renew the grid, but the strength will not return. If the pattern was created correctly according to the template, then turning on the ether flow the lens will successfully turn into a tuned one.

Just like tools can be enchanted, lenses can be modified, but with the help of a jewelry table. The process is similar to attunement, just place the attuned lens in the slot and repeat the pattern of the template of the modifier you want to impart to the lens. Also turn on the flow of ether, and if the pattern is correct, the lens will receive the modifier, if not, it will update the grid. Modifiers can be applied until the durability is depleted.

Modifiers:

  • Stream - Increases flow rate
  • Charge - Increases charging speed
  • Concentration - Increases spell accuracy
  • Filtering – increases lens strength
  • Saving - reduces the expenditure of spiritual energy
  • Area - Increases the radius of the spell
  • Reinforcement - Increases the power of the spell

To use a customized lens, hold the staff and hold the «R» button (default). You will be presented with a choice of all your lenses, hover over the one you want and release the key, the lens will be placed on the top of the staff.

The staff has two modes: Flow (left rune) and Charge (right rune). Flow spends the owner's spiritual energy, but is applied instantly. Charge requires long preparation for casting, but you can adjust the power of the spell and spends a minimum of the owner's energy. To select a mode, also hold down the key, hover the cursor over the desired mode and release the key.

At the moment, there is only the Redstone Lens. When using the Stream mode, the lens shoots a redstone beam, which upon hitting any block, activates it. When using the Charge mode, the lens shoots a redstone projectile, which upon hitting a block, activates it for a certain time (in the future, it is planned to change the charge effect).

Spiritual stability

Each use of the lens consumes a certain amount of Vital Energy. If this energy falls to a minimum, the player will begin to weaken and receive negative effects, but after a short rest from spells, the state will return to normal.

If the spiritual energy reaches zero, the Corruption will begin, the hearts will turn purple, and the maximum health will begin to drop to 2 units. It is possible to heal only if the spiritual energy reaches such a level that the purple vignette on the screen disappears.

There is another way to exhaust Spiritual Energy. The mod has an effect called Devastation [etherology:devastation]. When this effect is applied to a player, he will begin to lose spiritual energy, and the level of the effect increases the consumption.

But there is also a way to quickly replenish spiritual energy. The effect of vital energy [etherology:vital_energy] gradually regenerates the player's spiritual energy. Unlike the devastation effect, vital energy has its own potion. It cannot be created yet.

All features related to lenses and spiritual energy are currently being tested and are subject to change.

Transcript

Armillary Sphere– is a structure capable of deciphering matter and revealing its potential. It is currently under development, but we can already see how it works.

Before working, do not forget to put on the Revelation View. Place several pedestals around the altar. The recipes describe the sequence of aspects from the largest to the smallest. You should place objects on the pedestals in such a way that the total sum of all aspects from the largest to the smallest coincides with the recipe. For the test, we added one simple recipe.

For the recipe we need the following aspects in this order: Planta – Alchema – Stralfa. We will open the iron ingot, place it in the armillary sphere. Place the following items on the pedestals: Oak Leaves [Planta x2], Nether Wart [Alchema x3, Planta x2], and Sweet Berries [Stralfa x1, Planta x2]. The total amount of all aspects is: Planta x6, Alchema x3, Stralfa x1. Now click on the armillary sphere with the staff, after a short animation, aiming at the sphere, a small hint will appear, which three largest aspects will now be used (if, of course, you put on the eyepiece). Note that exactly the same aspects are indicated there in exactly the same order and quantity.

If the position of the aspects is correct, then clicking on the altar with the staff again will begin the decryption process: first, the armillary sphere will require spiritual energy. If there is any mob nearby, the matrix will begin to take its energy, if not - the player's energy. After that, the altar will begin to take items from the pedestals. If everything went well, after the final animation, the item inside will turn into the one specified in the recipe. If you remove an item from the pedestal during work, the process will stop. If the position of the aspects does not match the recipe, the process will not begin.

It's all simple if you know how an armillary sphere works.

Other

Thuja – a new coniferous plant. Found in cool regions such as taiga or spruce forests. Grows up to 5 blocks high, can be propagated with bone meal. A beautiful plant for beautifying your garden. Thuja Seeds are the source of Thuja Oil. It is used to lubricate the Top and Metronome, and as an ingredient in many recipes.

Furniture - these are half-blocks that can be connected to each other. Closet is a small storage for items, Shelf is a kind of frame for two items. Currently in development, and may be removed from the mod.

Spill Barrel – This is a vessel for storing liquids. It can hold up to 16 flasks of one type of potion. When the barrel is destroyed, the contents remain inside. If you rename the barrel in the anvil, the drinks it gives out will acquire the same name.

Samovar - an inexhaustible source of water in one block.

Jug- another storage for items. It is currently in development, so it is just a decorative block.

Crate – a small storage unit for items. It is a common decorative block for the interior.

Tuning Fork - a redstone mechanism that allows you to capture vibrations of other tuning forks with an identical frequency and produce a redstone signal of the maximum level. To activate a tuning fork, you only need to place it on the note block and activate it. You can adjust the frequency of the tuning forks by simply right-clicking on them.

Sculk sensors pick up any vibrations from the environment, whereas a tuning fork resonates only from another tuning fork of the same frequency. If necessary, they can be muffled with wool or filled with water so that the tuning forks do not make sounds.

Equipment

Battle Pickaxe - a combat pick. It can be used to chop rocks and fight. The damage may seem small, but it can penetrate armor. There are all types of materials, but it may still change.

Iron Shield - a new version of shields. Due to its weight, it has a smaller protection radius, but can withstand an axe attack and has a greater margin of safety. It has a unique Reflection charm that reflects all incoming projectiles in the direction the player is aiming.

Tuning Mace - a combat tuning fork. Due to its weight, it is a two-handed weapon. When struck with a full attack, it creates a deafening sound wave that pushes away surrounding mobs. It has high damage, but a long preparation for the strike. It has a unique Peal charm that shocks all surrounding mobs of the same type that was attacked.

Broadsword - A huge smashing sword. Due to its weight, it is a two-handed weapon. When hitting with a full attack, it creates a smashing blade that rams nearby mobs. Due to its size, it has a large attack radius. (No recipe yet).

When you take a two-handed item, the item in the second hand is not used and visually disappears. Fun fact: in the vanilla game there is a two-handed weapon, and it is a loaded crossbow, it is in its image that the two-handed weapons of the mod are created.

Ethril is also an important ingot, but for the future development of the mod. Ethril items are not an official part of the project, and they will most likely be removed or revised in future versions.
