How LTVT (Used to be) Distributed
LTVT is a freeware application. We impose no restrictions on its use or distribution.
It should always be possible to find a recent version of both the application and any necessary supporting files on the LTVT website at:
For download convenience, a "complete" version is available as a compressed (zipped) folder which includes the list of 9000+ named lunar features, a sample low resolution shaded relief texture file, the JPL ephemeris file for 2000-2050, and basic installation instructions (a ReadMe text file). This makes a single approximately 6 MB download for a basic installation. Much more detailed directions are included in the present User's Guide and on the LTVT website.
The component files are also offered individually. Program updates can be made simply by replacing existing files with newer versions as they become available. The files most likely to change are LTVT.exe and LTVT_UserGuide.chm .
Those wishing the very latest unreleased version can contact Jim Mosher by e-mail. If there is a new version under development, he can send you an upgrade folder containing it.
Further details of the files normally used with LTVT are given in the next topic: Overview of disk files .
