Both Subarus get struts, coils, anti-sway bars, and performance bushings.

Control Arms

Swap and Go

I have an extra set of front control arms. So I can do the bushings and restoration, then swap on one car. Then do it again, swap the other car.

I think the rear bushings will be easier to press out. Or at least I'll have more experience...

Burning Out the Bushings

I've given up on press-out / press-in bushing work. Bring the fire!!!




The Road to Chassis Black

It wasn't enough to sand and treat for rust. The more I prepped the surface, the more rust I discovered.

You can't see it here because I was already using Fast Etch. But underneath...



Eventually I did what I should have done first: I pulled out my cheap Harbor Freight needle scaler and tore it up.




NOW it's time for Fast Etch, and ready to paint.

Old Sleeves, New Poly

I left the old bushing sleeves in during blacking to keep the inner surfaces clean. Jigsaw and screwdriver made quick work of removal...



In with the new!
