Is Kolkata finally catching up in India's office space race or are we still playing it safe? - exospace2025/exospace-india GitHub Wiki
Been reading about how India’s major IT and commercial hubs are seeing record office rent hikes up 18% on average in just 3 years. Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and NCR are leading the surge, but here’s the thing: Kolkata’s commercial scene is quietly heating up too.
Places like Salt Lake Sector 5, New Town, and even parts of EM Bypass are seeing more Grade A office projects coming up. Vacancy rates are dropping, and coworking spaces have popped up everywhere. Rents are still relatively affordable compared to Bengaluru or Mumbai, but they’re rising steadily, and that makes me wonder…
Are we on the verge of a proper commercial real estate boom here? Startups and remote-first companies seem to prefer coworking spaces in Kolkata, Salt Lake City, these days, instead of jumping into traditional office leases.
Anyone else working out of coworking spaces here? Is it worth sticking to flex offices or is the market still stable enough to lease small private spaces? Would love to hear your takes on this.
P.S. I came across a curated list of coworking spaces in Kolkata Salt Lake recently was super handy during my hunt. If anyone needs it, please explore.
