COMiX Edge Adapter - etxmato/COMiX-HighSpeedDirectConnect GitHub Wiki
To simplify the connection between a COMiX-35 computer and the host computer to load and save programs using a terminal program like TeraTerm, we have designed an adapter card that plugs into the 44 pin expansion plug on the upper right side of the COMiX-35 computer.
The circuit for the card is detailed in the COMiX Direct Connection page. The adapter card has a 6-pin header for the USB to TTL Serial Adapter Cable and a 44-pin edge connector for the COMiX-35 computer. Below is a photo of our COMiX-35 computer under test, using the COMiX Edge Adapter card to connect to a host Windows computer using the Teraterm terminal program.
KiCad files and Gerbers can be found in the Hardware Files section of this Github repository that you can use to have a board fabricated using an online PCB fabrication service.
We have tested the High Speed Direct Connect firmware and adapter circuit with several USB to TTL Serial adapter cables and all have worked as expected. Any USB TTL Serial adapter cable (sometimes referred to as an FTDI USB TTL Serial adapter cable) should work.
During the development of the COMiX High Speed Direct Connect system we tested our work extensively with a DTech FTDI USB to TTL Serial 5V Adapter Cable. It can be found on Amazon and we have found it to be highly reliable.
