Resources
This page explains the different resources in CivIdleCli, how they are gathered, and their importance in the game.
Resource Types
CivIdleCli features five main resource types:
Resource | Base Collection Rate | Description |
---|---|---|
Food | 2.3 | Essential for population growth and maintenance |
Wood | 1.0 | Basic building material |
Stone | 0.5 | Advanced building material |
Gold | 0.2 | Currency and advanced resource |
Knowledge | 0.1 | Used for research and advancement |
Resource Collection
Resources are collected by assigning villagers to gather them. The amount collected per tick depends on:
- The number of villagers assigned
- The base collection rate of the resource
- Building bonuses that apply to that resource
- Villager type bonuses
Collection Formula
The formula for resource collection per tick is:
Resource Gained = Villagers × Base Rate × (1 + Building Bonuses) × Villager Type Modifier
Villager Type Modifiers
Different villager types have different efficiencies at gathering resources:
- Villagers: Standard collection rates for all resources except knowledge (20% of normal rate for knowledge)
- Scholars: Specialized in knowledge gathering (150% of normal rate for knowledge)
Building Production
In addition to villager collection, buildings directly produce resources each tick:
- Farms: Generate 3.5 food per farm
- Lumber Mills: Generate 2 wood per lumber mill
- Mines: Generate 1 stone and 0.2 gold per mine
- Markets: Generate 0.5 gold per market
- Libraries: Generate 0.5 knowledge per library
Resource Management
Good resource management is crucial for success in CivIdleCli:
- Food consumption is based on your population - each villager consumes food per tick (regular villagers: 2.1 food, scholars: 4.5 food)
- If you run out of food, your civilization will struggle
- Balance villager assignments based on your current needs
- Build resource-generating buildings to establish a steady income
- Use the
status
command to monitor your resource gathering rates
For detailed food management strategies, see the Food Management page.
Building Bonuses
Buildings provide bonuses to resource collection rates. See the Building Bonuses page for detailed information.
Tips for Efficient Resource Gathering
- Early Game Focus: Focus on food and wood in the early game
- Mid Game Balance: Balance all resources with a focus on knowledge for research
- Building Strategy: Build resource-generating buildings based on your needs
- Villager Specialization: Use scholars for knowledge gathering
- Monitor Consumption: Keep an eye on your food consumption rate
- Steady Growth: Don't recruit villagers faster than your food production can support
